UNEAR respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information when you use the UNEAR mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect data that is strictly necessary for the proper functioning of the app.
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Username (chosen by the user)
- Password (stored securely and encrypted)
Your email address is used only for authentication and account-related communication.
1.2 User Generated Content
When using UNEAR, you may voluntarily share:
- Photos uploaded as proof of challenge completion
- Messages exchanged within groups related to challenges
This content is visible only to the members of the group you choose to share it with.
1.3 Friends and Groups
Users can add friends only via usernames.
UNEAR does not access your contacts or address book.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to:
- Create and manage your user account
- Allow you to join groups and participate in challenges
- Enable messaging and photo sharing within groups
- Ensure the security and proper functioning of the app
We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
Your data is only shared:
- With other users within the same group, when you voluntarily post messages or photos
- When required by law or legal obligation
4. Data Storage and Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
- Secure storage
- Encrypted passwords
- Restricted access to user data
Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We continuously work to improve our security practices.
5. Data Retention
Your personal data is retained only for as long as your account is active.
If you delete your account:
- Your personal information is permanently deleted
- Your photos and your messages are permanently deleted, in every group and for everyone — the other members lose them too
- Your group memberships, friendships, trophies and push notification token are permanently deleted
Deletion cannot be undone, and we cannot restore an account or its content afterwards. Two things survive it. First, encrypted database backups: we take an encrypted snapshot of the database every six hours to protect against data loss, and a snapshot taken before your deletion still contains your data until it expires — up to 30 days for the routine snapshots, and up to 12 months for the monthly archive copy. Those backups are encrypted and are never read for any purpose other than restoring the service after an incident. Second, content created by other members stays in their groups, since it belongs to them and not to you.
6. Your Rights
In accordance with applicable data protection laws (including GDPR), you have the right to :
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and personal data

7. Children’s Privacy
UNEAR is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If changes are made, the updated version will be published with a new “Last updated” date.
